Introduction
Welcome to CalcVault ("we", "our", or "us"). Your privacy is critically important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how CalcVault collects, uses, stores, and protects your information when you use our CalcVault application (the "App").
CalcVault is a calculator application with a hidden, encrypted vault feature. We have designed the App with privacy as a core principle.
Information We Collect
Calculations and History
All calculation expressions and results are stored locally on your device using Hive (a local database). This data never leaves your device.
Vault Files
Files you choose to hide in the vault (images, videos, documents, PDFs) are:
- Copied to the app's private storage directory
- Encrypted with AES-256 encryption using a key derived from your vault PIN
- The original files are deleted from your device after encryption
- Thumbnails are generated and stored alongside encrypted files
- File metadata (original path, filename, type, size) is stored locally in Hive
Important: All vault data is stored entirely on your device. No files, images, videos, or documents are ever uploaded to any server, cloud service, or external database. We have no access to your vault contents.
Vault PIN
Your vault PIN is stored as a SHA-256 hash on your device. We never store your actual PIN. The PIN is used to derive the AES-256 encryption key for your vault files.
Vault Settings
Your vault preferences (restore location, custom path) are stored locally on your device.
Advertising
The App uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. Google AdMob may collect certain information for ad personalization. For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy.
AdMob may collect:
- Device identifier (Advertising ID)
- IP address (approximate location)
- Device information (model, OS version, screen size)
- Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks)
Note: AdMob data collection is completely separate from vault functionality. No vault data, file information, or PIN data is ever shared with Google AdMob or any third party.
How We Use Information
We use collected information solely to:
- Provide calculator functionality
- Store your calculation history locally
- Encrypt and securely store your hidden files
- Display advertisements (via Google AdMob)
- Improve App performance
Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, trade, or transfer your information to third parties. We do not have access to your vault contents, files, PIN, or any data stored on your device. The only third-party service is Google AdMob for advertising.
Data Security
- AES-256 encryption for all vault files
- SHA-256 hashing for vault PIN storage
- All data stored in app-private directories
- No network transmission of user data
- No server-side storage of any user content
Data Retention
All data is retained locally on your device until you choose to delete it. You can:
- Unhide individual files (decrypts and restores to your device)
- Delete files permanently from the vault
- Clear calculation history
- Uninstall the App to remove all data
Children's Privacy
The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The App is intended for general audiences.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
